October a 07 : October 9 is the 40th anniversary of the of the execution of Ernesto Che Guevara, by the Bolivian military, in cahoots with the CIA. Che has become an icon for a number of causes, including milking the image of Che for all it's worth. The original pix was shot by Alberto Korda, a photographer for the Cuban Newspaper, Revolucion, on 5 March, 1960. Although Korda has not received any royalties for his picture, he successfully sued Smiirnoff Vodka for exploiting his image in their advertising. He donated his out of court settlement of $USD50,000 to the Cuban health care system.

June 07 : The first 5 pix are photographs I'm exhibiting at the Galeria Bezdomna (aka The Homeless Gallery), a Special Event of the DAYLESFORD FOTO BIENNALE 2007. Galeria Bezdomna originated in Poland (hence the Polish name) but has also run under the title Homeless Gallery and Galeria Vagabonde. Since it's inception in 2002 there have been 53 editions world wide, including 5 Australian editions. I exhibited at the first 2 in Melbourne. This is the 54th edition. Galeria Bezdomna is a free-form open entry photography gallery, which happens on an ad-hoc basis, whenever and wherever a suitable space becomes available. There are no entry criteria, no selection panels or style police. Participation is free. Galeria Bezdomna runs without funding and very few rules. This edition of Galeria Bezdomna is a special event of the DAYLESFORD FOTO BIENNALE SECOND INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF PHOTOGRAPHY, which, runs throughout June. The Main Program features 19 photographic exhibitions and a further 70 exhibitions comprise the Umbrella Program, and along with Affiliate Events, Special Events, Workshops and Seminar Programs DFB'07 expects to attract some 50,000 visitors. http://dfb05.tripod.com/07/index.html
